goddamn enOUGH with this trend of people believing that tony doesn’t own up to his mistakes and take accountability. stop using headcanons and personal interpretations to color what is canon and what isn’t. age of ultron tells us that the twins were 7 were they died, meaning that the use of stark weapons in their parents’ deaths was just under 20 years ago. tony found out about gulmira and the illegal arms dealing of his company with the ten rings in 2008. this was 7 years ago. whatever happened in sokovia preceded afghanistan and gulmira. that’s just simple maths for you. it wasn’t until afghanistan that tony had his eyes opened. and what did he do? he tore down his company, risked his life and was nearly murdered so he could have the chance to change stark industries, to fix his past mistakes and to ensure he his company would never produce weapons again.
when tony says “this was never my life” in aou after pietro points to the illegally obtained black market missiles he has literally been fighting for the past decade of his life to make up for his mistakes and his ignorance of stark industries’ illegal dealings. he has never willingly or intentionally sold illegal weapons to arms dealers or terrorists or people that used these weapons for the sole purpose of fear tactics and murder. the moment he stood up before the world press and shut down SI’s weapons manufacturing effectively immediately, the man who was responsible for illegal arms dealing at stark industries attempted to have him killed. and before that, had him kidnapped and held for torture.
ignorance ≠ innocence and his hands are by no means clean. those are his mistakes to carry with him and to remember but when his eyes were opened tony stark saw. and he saw a future where he didn’t build things blew people up, a future where he and his company could do better and more for the world and the people living in it then just creating death and destruction. i am sick and fucking tired of meta posts and the hoards of people ignoring the entirety of canon that is tony stark doing everything humanly possible to stop his weapons from hurting innocent people again. since iron man 1, he has thrown himself into clean energy and sustainability, into medical technology and development, into every facet of innovation and pushing the boundaries of what humankind can achieve with their minds, into donning on an iron suit he built with his bare hands to save people, into outfitting his team with the best possible protection and gear he can create so they can stay safe whilst also saving people.
tony stark is not perfect nor infallible. his is human. his past is marked by those mistakes, but it is NOT a fucking supervillain origin story. he is a character that demonstrates the ability to make mistakes and learn from them, to atone, to fix what he fucked up. if that’s somehow too unbelievable, if being allowed to change and evolve from your former self is something you find too cynical to accept that’s on you. what kind of world would it be if all of the worst mistakes we ever made were held against us for the rest of our lives in spite of any and all attempts to atone. because that’s how it is for tony stark. and despite the numbers of people telling him he can’t and waiting for him to fail, he picks himself back up, he owns up to the mistake and builds anew from the ground up. and continues to risk his life all the time, just a human with a brilliant mind and metal suit, protecting and saving people to make up for his past bit by bit.
he fights for the world and the future he believes the world deserves and wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice everything he has for it. and even though so many people, fictional or otherwise, will never be able to see him as anything other than his mistakes, tony stark is a hero and an avenger and a good man.
1. Steve, our giant dorito of goodness, who was not the person the Hulk caught and saved from death in the first avengers, but who was the first person Hulk ever took an order from.
Steve respects soldiers; and he respects people who hates bullies, and he was one of the first people to speak to the Hulk and not plead with him. When he tells Hulk, “Thank you,” he means it and even Hulk can tell. When he says, “You’re done, we’ve got it from here,” Hulk believes it. He’s safe.
2. Tony, who was the falling body Hulk caught, who was one of the few acts of friendship and not destruction Hulk was given in Avengers, who has spent long nights and early mornings with Bruce in the lab now, sharing in something they both love. Tony either:
a. talks science in a soothing tone– “supernovas? the emissions on those things. and mechatronics! omg, let’s talk about nyquist plots, don’t you think they look like butts? they totally look like butts” – until Hulk makes a giant green enraged sigh, puts his hands over his face, and just lets Puny Bruce out to deal with Won’t-Shut-Up-Man.
OR
b. Tony touches down in the Ironman suit and circles Hulk like a particularly irritating gnat. “Hey hey hey Hulk, man, go to sleep. go to sleep okay? go to sleep. go to sleep go to sleep gotosleepgotosleepGOTOSLEEPokaycmonhulkgotosleep” until Hulk finally swats him and does.
(because Tony’s affection always filters through annoyance)
3. Thor, who blasts down and with jovial seriousness begins a brotherly brawl of joint camaraderie. Thor’s one of the few Hulk can’t hurt too easy, and Hulk’s one of the few Thor can’t hurt.
There are so many frustrations in their lives, these two boys who belong best to simpler worlds and keep getting pulled into machinations and schemes of others–but this, here, is simple. This is just bodies in an empty war zone, all the danger gone. They fight like kittens, like flop-eared puppy dogs, until they roll over panting in the rubble and gasp and laugh themselves to sleep.
(Steve and Tony, who have finished all the requisite paperwork during this cooldown/beatdown period, come out and carry their snoring allies to the Quinjet– Steve with Bruce wrapped in a blanket, and the Ironman armor lugging Thor.)
4. Probably not Hawkeye, honestly. I love you, Clint, but no.
5. But not Natasha, who is brave and slippery and terrifying, who is afraid more than almost anything of losing control, whose role on the team is the spy, the killer, the repenter, the manipulator, the blade in the dark, the smile that cuts, the dry wit, Hawkeye’s best friend and Cap’s dose of loyal reality– Natasha, whose role is not to be the girl, the mother, or other people’s peace.
despite reports that say otherwise, cobie smulders and samuel l. jackson have not personally confirmed their appearance in cap 3, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not appearing
there has also been no word about emily vancamp reprising her role in this movie
aside from the original cap 2 cast, jeremy renner and elizabeth olsen have also been confirmed to appear in this movie
civil will be essentially the consequence of the events of the winter soldier and age of ultron, and therefore “not about the secret identity thing, as much as it is about, overall, who reports to who, and who can agree to oversight committee”
the timeline of the movie takes place “a couple of years” after winter soldier
the focus of the movie will continue to be the relationship of steve and bucky, which is complicated by political and powerplay themes
black widow will “continue to confront her past while participating in the civil war”
chris evans: “morality hits tony, humanity hits tony. all of a sudden he feels responsible. neither of them are blindly convicted. it’s blurry and that’s what makes it great. no one’s right, no one’s wrong.” rdj: “it’s going to make it even harder for them to come to an agreement.”
civil war willjump off into avengers: infinity war, and will set-up the real battle
For anyone who is facing a mountain of debt after they graduate check out this amazing idea:
“SponsorChange has created a mutually-beneficial initiative that provides people power for high-impact non-profits in need, while simultaneously helping to relieve students of their ever-impending debt.”
1) London is expensive. It’s not cheap to live there even with their income, and their apartment is actually pretty luxurious. For example, when Caspar pretended to be moving out, Joe said he couldn’t afford to pay the other half of the rent for long, and they have around the same amount of subscribers as D &P.
2) They would have to quit doing the gaming channel. If one of them moved out, it would be too difficult to continue making gaming videos at such a high rate as they’ve been doing now. They’re nearly at 1 million subscribers, so I doubt they would abandon it so soon.
3) Their careers would suffer. As they already know, a large portion of their dedicated fanbase loves them as a duo and more so the companies that hire them. The videos with the most views usually have both of them in it and DanandPhilshop sales would plummet if one of them were to move out, since moving out means seeing less of them together. (and broken hearted phan shippers obv) And so with their presenting, radio shows, sponsored videos, and movies, it is less appealing for viewers and people hiring if they are not a duo. Unlike SMOSH, who are alright because their main channel is focused around them two, Dan and Phil have individual channels whose careers are only linked by all the time they spend together.
3) Dan can’t actually live alone. He’s never actually lived by himself, he went straight from his family to a crowded college dorm to Phil’s apartment. Dan once tweeted that he wouldn’t be able to live by himself, because of his existential crisis. Not just anyone can comfort him, evident when he was complaining about it and a friend offered comfort but Dan denied it. Also when Phil leaves on holidays, we should all probably know by now that Dan gets depressed and lonely and spams his Twitter with sad tweets. It seems like that only Phil can actually comfort Dan when he’s in a rough spot. They are each other’s mental support.
4) Why would you get a new roommate? It is hard to believe you can get a more perfect flatmate than another Youtuber. It would be embarrassing trying to film videos (especially late at night) with someone who wouldn’t understand, like Dan would complain about the difficulty of his college roommates and his family overhearing. They help each other film, be side characters, edit, review, and advise for each of their videos. Being in each others videos also boosts their popularity since they’re both famous. Why would you fire a free assistant and advisor who boosts your popularity, but is also your best friend who watches movies and plays games with you?
5) They can’t live without each other. (msg me if gifs belong to you)
Seriously. They’re literally inseperable.
Omg thank you so much you just made my day. Oh thank god
